Fitbit and Google Team Up to Link User Data With Medical Records

Fitbit is teaming up with Google to "transform the time to come of digital health and wearables," the companies announced Monday.

Together, the companies are working to develop new consumer and enterprise health products and services. As part of their partnership, Fitbit will move to the Google Cloud Platform and use the Spider web giant's new Cloud Healthcare API to connect user health data with electronic medical records (EMRs). With access to their patients' Fitbit health data, doctors will have a "more than comprehensive view of the patient profile, leading to more than personalized care," the companies wrote in a news release.

"At Google, our vision is to transform the way health information is organized and made useful," Google Deject Vice President of Healthcare Gregory Moore said in a statement. "Together, we take the opportunity to deliver up-to-date information to providers, enhancing their ability to follow and manage the health of their patients and guide their treatment."

The partnership with Google comes after Fitbit in February acquired the deject-based health management platform Twine Health. By using Google'south Deject Healthcare API, Twine tin can make information technology easier for doctors and patients to collaborate nearly care plans, Fitbit said.

"Working with Google gives us an opportunity to transform how nosotros scale our business organisation, allowing us to reach more people around the world faster, while also enhancing the experience we offer to our users and the healthcare organization," Fitbit CEO James Park said in a statement. "This collaboration will accelerate the stride of innovation to ascertain the next generation of healthcare and wearables."

Meanwhile, Fitbit late concluding month released a new smartwatch chosen Versa. The $199.95 device earned an "excellent" rating in PCMag's review and our coveted Editors' Pick award for smartwatches.
